The Hit List

Discover our favorite distilleries Upstate

It's gloomy days like this one that make us want to get out of town, find ourselves a scenic view, and kick back with a cocktail. The Hudson Valley is home to some of the best distilleries around. Here are two of TROVVEN's favorite destinations for boozing with a view.

1. Low-key Fun: Orange County Distillery, Goshen NY
This farm to bottle distillery specializes in Whiskey so good it's served at Blue Hill at Stone Barns  If your looking to pick up a bottle, do a tasting, or visit their production area, visit their primary location. If your feeling like kicking back and hanging a while, drive 13min down the road to their newest venture, Brown Barn Farms. This converted barn nestled among acres of farmland is a farmers market, tasting room, and cocktail bar, wrapped in one.  With live music every Friday and Saturday night and a resident food truck called "the bus", it's a guaranteed good time.

2. Formal Vibes: Hillrock Estate Distillery, Ancram NY
Hillrock Estate is a drastic contrast to the OCD. They take their whiskey very seriously, but rightly so, it's incredible. The distillery is housed in the former home of a Revolutionary War general i.e. it's OLD. The estate itself is extremely impressive with its acres of rolling hills and pristine farmland.  All of their organic barley, rye, and corn is grown and processed onsite. They welcome guests at their visitor center where they host tastings and have bottles for purchase. Tours of the production area are available by appointment only.
